Holiday Inn Hotel - San Antonio

First Day:  Meeting new friends, plenty of good conversation, a good conductor, and a view of the rolling countryside help shorten the drive to San Antonio.  Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before visiting the Buckhorn Hall of Horns and Saloon for a taste of Texas suds and a visit to the museum. Late afternoon arrival and check-in at the downtown Holiday Inn Hotel for two nights. This evening you'll enjoy the fabulous riverboat ride, seeing the Riverwalk in all of its lighted splendor! Dock at a popular restaurant for a terrific dinner of good ole' Texas barbeque.

Second Day:  Your day begins after breakfast with a complete tour of San Antonio. Visit the Alamo, La Villita, and the Governor's Palace. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before visiting the Institute of Texan Cultures to see what part your ancestors played in shaping the history of the Lone Star State. (More than 140 different ethnic groups are represented.) Tonight, enjoy San Antonio's famous and romantic Riverwalk.

Third Day:   This morning it's only a short hop to New Braunfels, known all over Texas for  wonderful German hospitality and traditions.  Enjoy the German food, homemade pastries, and excellent service (Dutch treat) at the polka and polkadot Grist Mill  Restaurant in New Braunfels.  Then visit  historic Gruene, Texas. This hamlet is one of the very early German settlements and is perfectly preserved  for the visitor. After a little sampling, at the  Texas Wines Outlet,  begin your return to the Valley. Relax and relive your memories with your new friends and a renewed pride in our country and its rich tradition. Arrive in the Valley about 5 :30 PM.
